im in the process of modding my minor and now its time for the engine.would i be able to fit a supercharger from my 998 mini engine or maybe a metro turbo set up.also is it ilegal to have my exhaust just behind the front wheel? thanks

Yes you can fit a supercharger if you have one. What engine is in your Minor? Exhaust will be fine there. I urge you to upgrade the brakes/suspension/tyres before increasing engine power.

I was looking through some papers, yesterday, I have for my 1952 MM and came upon an article from an early 50s Motoring magazine describing a "Shorrock" supercharger fitted to a MM sidevalve engine. It was quite impressive!

I'm slightly bemused about the 'supercharger from 998 Mini engine' and waiting to see how that pans out.

Not sure if the exhaust length will allow for adequate silencing, maybe a 'supertrap' would fit. Personally I'd go for a 1275cc based unit rather than the 998cc.

It was the way in the past, and worked very well because the engines at that time had very low compression ratios. Unfortunately Shorrocks are not cheap, indeed they are much sought after. Normal fitment these days is the Eaton unit from the early version of the MINI Cooper S. And of course the engine must be modified to drop the compression ratio.
