Hey guys, I'm pretty new to the forums/ club and I own a maroon '69 4-door, which I will be selling soon. I will hopefully be replacing it with a Moggie needing slightly less of the old TLC before I can drive in a month or two (The chauffeur will have to make do for now!)

Anyway, getting to the point, have any of you had any experience with Bilt Hamber's Dynax S50 or Neutrarust??

I plan to neutralise some surface rust and get into the sills/main box sections with Neutrarust 661 and then attack it with Dynax..

Any success stories and so on would be appreciated!!

These rust neutralising products that you paint over the rust and turn it black simply do not work! Try it with one and when the rust has gone black, try scratching the black coating and you will see the rust is still underneath. It will break out again after a few months in the weather.

The only way to deal with rust is remove it completely before painting. If you can't get the panels media blasted (risk of distortion) or dipped and e-coated, then- either cut out and replace with new steel or panels or wire brush and treat with 5% phosphoric acid, then repeat until all the rust have been removed. This may work with small areas of lightly rusted panels, but deeply pitted bodywork really needs to be cut out and replaced.

You can use a wire brush on grinder or electric drill to speed the removal. it is very tedious though!
