Is it possible to change the rubbers on the master cylinder without removing the blessed thing?

I would just replace the whole master cylinder as after 40 years+ the bore is likely to have surface rust and will chew up the new seals. A new master cylinder will last decades.

if you decide to change the rubbers the cylinder does need to come out to inspect the internals.. and it all needs to be very clean or your rubbers will be destroyed very quickly and render them useless
