Putting you all in the picture ...

Okay. So this is how it goes ...

I would like to put certain members and users of this website in the picture, and would therefore like you all to know that I will not be looking for any more vehicles for at least the next three months. I currently have two Morris Minors under repair (having extensive welding to the underside) and a third in storage. This includes one four door saloon collected from Coventry

GOOD NEWS! One of my Morris Minors should be on the road soon!!! :D

Regarding collection of free vehicles, surely the removal of these unwanted cars is a issue that is between the donor and the collector; in fact I have never come across or met anyone that wasn't satisfied with my intentions to either restore their vehicle or use it to help with my restoration projects.

I am getting concerned that people on the site are judging me and assuming that I am collecting vehicles with the intention of purely breaking them up. In fact, that is not the case. I can tell you, I act in the best interests of the donor and discuss my intentions with them before even considering collecting the vehicle.

So, please play nice (people in glass houses should not throw bricks)[frame]Image[/frame]

Absolutely. Whether a car is going to be restored or used for parts it still helps to keep other Minors on the road.

I'm sure that everyone here would like this forum to remain a friendly place for those who visit so it would be appreciated if members could refrain from posting comments containing assumptions or insinuations which may cause upset to other board members.

Thank you,

Lou.

Hi Dave,
Nice to see yet more Minors being rescued - I've not done any pet rescue projects for almost 3 years but I'll be back on the case myself soon (hopefully the other jobs list will get manageable).

I'm not sure that anyone aimed accusations directly at you, but even so Kevin (chief mod) has put up a sticky on the issue.
In one case there was some dissapointment by a member where they had agreed to collect a car and was arranging transport only to find out that it had been taken by someone else. In this case it the donor should have been more clear to all involved to avoid one member fealing cheated.
Either way, whether it is free or sold for a price - until the car has changed hands it doesn't "belong" to the next person and once it has changed hands, it's the property of the new owner and that's that. People are people and emotions get involved (rather like my rants agains Morris Minors taken under the scrappage scheme ) but in the big scheme of things, life goes on.

Anyway - I'm looking forward to some updates on your projects.

I agree entirely with Ray, I'd rather see 1 Morris on the road and used/loved than 2/3 rusting away in a field. The scrappage scheme has been badly thought out sending cars even with current MOT's to certain destruction. After the notice to destroy has been signed nothing can be done, at least by using the parts they get to "live" again. :D
