Door Pillar

Now SHY is near MOT'd, and I can nearly weld ! I'm thinking of those little jobs.

At some point a butcher has patched up the door pillar by the latch and pin parts with a straight patch of too thick steel.
This means the door does not seal properly and if you try to shut it properly (which is physically impossible) the whole side of the car shudders.

Is there a repair panel available for the striker plate / centre pillar of the car ? Or can I cut out the equivalent - below the trim line - from my 4 door and weld it in ?
In addition, this pillar has a tiny hole just beneath the roof / gutter. How should I treat & patch this and treat anything else in this area to stop the rot ?

Hi Jim if you have a look at the Bath site it has some good drawings of the available repair panels.

it may be possible to cut there area you need out of it and weld in to shy.

Thanks Brixton
We've just taken delivery of a donor 4door that has its pillars and the bit around the locks looks the same to me. Just not sure if I want to chop our donor up just yet !
There is a theory going round about putting the old stripped 4door shell on a 4x4 Suzuki chassis this summer.
Would you be kind enough to pm / mail me how much you'd like for the offending bit ? Thus leaving me with a whole donor shell (Yet Another Project ???????!!!!!!!?)
