Air filter for HIF38

Post by mowogg »

I have just fitted my HIF 38 with MG Metro inlet and all seems well. However the noise from teh K&N filter seems excessive. I was hoping to use a 1300 metro filter, but this does not fit directly to the HIF38 as it was designed for the HIF44. Seeing all the reported issues on this forum, has anyone found one that works well and is not to noisy?

Thanks

I'm using the air filter from a 1.0L Metro (you need the cast elbow as well as the plastic housing). It does fit if you cut off most of the intake tube (which is the worst restriction according to Vizard). Works well with minimal noise but I wasn't trying to extract maximum power anyway.

I use a Triumph Toledo or a Dolomite 1300 air filter - fits well with the air intake pointing forward.
