i thought the reg number reminded me of a moggy but it was AUL 821 H that belongs to the moggy centre in Reading, now re-registered..
glad the leaking cylinder did not put you off buying the car

Hi. I also own an ex-police car that was used in the Cardiff police force. The head lining should have a zip fitted but this could have been taken out. but I can try and send you a link to see if this car was used by a police force and maybe even obtain some info on it.

I'd strongly advise going over the car with a fine-tooth comb listing absolutely every non-standard feature, from the obvious ones like that odd-looking manifold to the extra instruments and those bright bits on the floor. Then send it to your insurance company with your proposal form. If you take out insurance first, then tell them, they may point to the small print allowing them to charge for policy changes (perhaps 20 quid) as well as an increased premium. If you don't tell them at all, then make a claim, they could throw the book at you. Their test is "what would a reasonable man think might influence their assessment of the risk they are insuring?" - not "what does the optimistic young man with his first car seem to remember one of his mates told him he'd got away with?"
You may be lucky, and not get charged any more, but at least you'd know that you'd actually got the cover you've paid for.

Yes - it does have the alloy inlet and a 3 branch exhaust fitted - although strangely looks like a standard carb has been fitted - I bet that wasn't what was on it before!

If it's going to work as "nature" intended it shouldn't be plumbed via the heater valve unless you intend to have the heater on all year round.

Best power if you DON'T put hot water through it! Let's face it - twin carb set-ups don't have water heated manifolds - there's a very good reason.
