hi-ya just a problem i`m sure you`ll be able to sort out in a trice,
the fuel guage on my recently acquired pickup(1963)only moves once a day, when i first turn on the ignition the guage goes to approx. half full returns to empty and does`nt move until the next morning ....only a
problem once? (running dry at a roundabout on a busy pre-christmas friday lunchtime)wont make that mistake again..famous last words!!

That suggests something which breaks down once it gets hot!
If you get nowhere I would check the voltage output from the
regulator which is mounted on the rear of the speedometer,
(it should be 10 volts).
