hey
ive had a total failure this weekend at trying to replace all the rear bushes!
is there a special technique?
ive tried hammers, levers and g-clamps, so far ive got 6 of them in just three more to go but i thougth id find out if theres an easier way before i make a start on the rest next weekend! ive got the front ones replaced and im now on the back trying to get the bushes into the chassis. ive got the bushes into the one side of the leaf and one into the chassis but its hanging at an angle and no amount of force seems to get the other one in.
any tips to make my life easier?

Are they the green ones? These are the ones I fitted and yes they were tight, someone said on here use white grease to lube them. This may make it easier. Also check to make sure there a no burrs on the leading edges of the bush before you try and push it in... also push both bushes into the leaf spring before trying to "ram" it into the hanger. Are you doing the hanger (front end) of the rear spring first? I found it easier as I was replacing my rear springs at the same time, therefore the spring was unbolted from the axle so I could really wriggle the spring and use a screwdriver to open the hanger a bit to get it in. Otherwise... yes I sympathise!!!

May help if you heat them up in a pan of warm water. And yes - use some lubricant!

never heard of white grease i like to use copperease on the bush and use the hot water for making lots of coffee for me . never thought of putting them in hot water to soften them up slightly but should help

ive done the front end first but as im not replacing the suspension leaves its still attached to the axle so theres not much wigge room.

i tryed hot water which helped a little but it seemed to cool down very fast too soon to faff around but it was very cold in our shaded car port!

You may get by with WD40 in place of 'white grease' - or em, K Y Jelly has been suggested in the past.......

White grease is called Lithiam grease , can be bought as a spray.

We use white grease in a spray can very easy to apply, do not use WD40 as it is a water repelant not a lubing grease. Copper ease is okat for the shackle pins but we tend to stick by the manufacterers specified lube (included with the Superflex bushes)

I got a spray can of white grease from Halfords to do mine.

Yes - the wd40 would have no lasting effect - but would ease the fitting! It's slippery stuff. Poundland had white spray grease for a while (I stocked up!) - but haven't seen it for a while. LithiUm is used in most greases - not just 'white' .

The one I have is 3 in 1 Lithium white grease , spelt correctly this time !!!!!!!!!
