After a rather long absence, i have returned... with news.

Rita (limegreen) has only had her wings and a little welding done, and will be for sale very soon.

this is for a very good reason;




I heard about her Thursday, and she was on my drive by Sunday. She is 4 door, 2 previous owners, approx 35,000 miles and has been garaged since 2003. I paid £450 for her, and I am very, very pleased.

Does that mean that you are now to be known as "Snow White"? With 35000 on the clock, that's one to hang on to and look after!! Do I see potential for a little bit of roof to be tagged on to that building, to shelter the car from the elements?

She doesnt need much doing either - only a clean up, passenger floor and passenger seat :3

Are you planning to do a run from Monmouth to Chepstow along the Wye Valley? (I live almost upon that road, you see.)

My driving test is actually on the 12th April - I'd most likely be bringing XTX, as Rita will be sold after her welding is completed, sadly. - XTX is more practical for me and less work for dad in the long run.

We leave cardiff for Newport, Caerwent, Chepstow, Tintern, Monmouth and finish at Raglan.
I will put you down for XTX But if you Email me I will post Times and Route to you.

Didn't I see that for sale on E-bay? If it's the same one, I looked tat that 35,000 (apparently backed up by MOT paperwork, IIRC) and thought "Nah! I could never explain that one away to the missus!"

But you seem to have got away with owning two mogs at once by promising to sell the original... I did that with my motorbike when I bought Betsy Blue... anyone wanna buy a motorbike, because nine months later I've still got it!

I don't think it's been on ebay, unless it was from Caldicot and they wanted £600 for it?

I'm sure everyone wishes you luck!! It's a few years since I did my test (In fact 13 April marks 40 years since I started school) and I expect some of the format has changed. Because both my parents passed first time, I felt under a bit of pressure to do so. I remember just slowing it all down a tad (Being just a little less "Eager" with the emergency stop, to lessen the risk of locking up) but not to the point of appearing hesitant. If I remember rightly, the examiner who tested me, was rumoured to fail boys, to knock their confidence. Whether this was true and whether my tactics were successful, I shall never know but I passed first time. I was pretty conversant with the rules of the road, as I had done a lot of cycling prior to learning to drive (Up to one hundred miles a day on some occasions and in all types of traffic) and I’m sure that helped me with the Highway Code.

I think you’ve got to not get hung up on worrying about failing. Passing first time does not make you a good driver and failing once or possibly twice does not make you a bad one. Up to a point, passing your test is not always the same thing as learning to drive.
