just rebult the lovely engine and taken the car for a spin, all good except the exhaust blowing (typically)
however, the charging light has come on and wont go out even with increasing the engine speed.
checked the wiring and fan belt, all was normal. dont think it can be the contol box, as that was all good before.
so i am at a loss. any ideas why this is doing this?

Broken connection ? Most usual is stuck/worn brushes in the dynamo. Take it apart and clean/inspect/renew the brushes if no obvious bad connection.

strangely, my miracle powered car has self healed, so its now charging the battery quite nicely

May of been the brushes on the dynamo running in or seating correctly.
