Hi,

I've just replaced my washer pump (manual) after checking with a tyre pump that all tubes were unblocked. I've also checked that the tube connectors are air-tight. Now I've need pumping forever but nothing comes out of the nozzles. Any tip for priming the pump?

Regards,
Pascal

Is the non-return valve working OK? You should have one fitted to the end of the tubing that goes into the washer bottle. If water seems to be travelling up through the tubing try clearing the nozzle jets with a pin as they can get blocked up. The pump shouldn't really need 'priming' - just a few pushes should get water onto the screen. Is the pump a new one or a second hand one? It could be a problem with the pump itself rather than the tubing.

I sometimes have to do this on my Traveller. Just fill the washer bottle, then with one finger over the breather hole give the washer bottle a good squeeze until water come out of the jets. The pump should now work.
