Oil Pressure

Here's a good one. When I turn off the ignition and stop the engine the oil pressure warning light comes on. Turn the ignition on and the light goes off. Everything else is working correctly. Any clues?

This has just suddenly started happening ? First thought is - the Oil p and Ign warning lights may be in the wrong holes - and in fact it's the IGN light that's staying on - because of a problem with the regulator (if dynamo) or alternator. hrad to see what else..... Take the battery connection off! If it IS the IGN light - it could be draining quite a high current!

Right first time Roy. The dammed warning lights have been reversed. So the fault is in the alternator - somewhere

Not another dodgy alternator !!!
Maybe time to replace with a good old reliable dynamo

Guess some humble pie is in order, bearing in mind my previous comments about alternators and how reliable they were

If it's a Lucas ACR 15/16/17/18 - you can get (or used to able to get) a repair kit for the diode pack. But they are seriously cheap in the scrappy - as i have said on here before - I only pay a £ for mine !
