Hi There,

I am desperately seeking the kind owner of a Sivler, Blue or Green convertable Morris Minor for my wedding day in July.

It would be in Knutsford Cheshire and it would involve arriving at 12.30pm to take me and my Dad the 8 minute journey to the church and then the taking me and my fiance form the church to the reception approx 20 minutes.

We do have a little bit of cash we can offer (but not a lot i hasten to add). we would really appreciate any help at all as these are the only cars i like other than vw beetles and i dont think they are approriate.

If you could get in touch i would be so grateful.

Hi Kristin I wish you luck with your request however the silver colour is unlikely as they were not made with that colour, good luck.

Well you can have the best of both worlds in that case as Smoke Grey is actually a pale Blue :D

"Doing weddings" is my business, though not in a Morris Minor (yet), so one or two thoughts:

You're obviously hoping to get it for a fairly nominal price, which is fair enough - but everyone does. They all tell me how close they are to the Church, how near the reception is, and so on, but in reality these distances don't make much overall difference to the time taken or even the cost. Preparing a car for a wedding is a long job - you wouldn't want grubby seats, dirty windows, or sweet wrappers, and if it's a wet day, the car will need a thorough cleaning again as soon as it gets home. Wet confetti! Be careful about who will be driving - you want someone who looks as though he's worn a suit before, and can put on the right performance for you, as well as driving smoothly and carefully. He needs to have prepared himself, too: I always check out a route beforehand to make sure I know where I'll park and turn round.

Make sure your driver is properly insured: he must have "hire or reward" insurance, even if it's limited to weddings (few classic wedding cars are fully "private hire" licensed with local authorities).

Is a Moggy convertible a suitable wedding car? Perhaps. The two things to remember are that there's not a lot of room for a big dress, especially with a big bride in it, and a big dad by her side; and if you opt to have the hood up on the way to Church, no-one will see you, or if you have it down, your hair may suffer. It's the same problem with any tourer, but probably a bit worse with a smaller car.

Finally, and this applies whether you choose a friend with an Astra or the poshest firm in town with a Phantom: have your own fall-back arrangement, whether it's making sure dad's car is clean, or getting someone at the Church to keep their phone on till you arrive. Even the Queen's Bentley broke down a couple of weeks ago, and no-one's immune from an idiot running into them.

HI Kevin,

Thanks so much for your response, I actually work for a Bridal Magazine, so I am aware of all the problems/issues etc... with hiring cars.

My Dress is not big and neither am I and I have trailed seating in a mm and fit fine along with my Dad and I am also arranging for all the ushers to have their cars ready as they are taking the bridesmaids etc... as i mentioned in the initial email it is around 8 minutes drive to the church and then around 10 minutes drive from the church to the reception.

As a company we deal with lots and lots of wedding car companies however i was after a Moggie as i prefer them to any car and I didn't particularly want the standard wedding car and as our wedding is in a Tipi we wanted something a bit out of the normal.

the only company near to me that hire out MM charge £450 per car and they are maroon and cream and wouldn't match ou colour theme.

I used my car as a wedding car (brother in law driving) & my wife did have quite a large dress. All we did was remove the front passenger seat. Took a few minutes - four bolts to take out. No problems getting in or out & plenty of leg room!

Although 'auto' makes some good points - don't be put off! I'm sure someone local will be willing to help you - and if done as a 'one-off favour' won't involve fancy insurance. Good luck with your quest - and Best Wishes for your Wedding.

White convertible wanted *urgently* . Perhaps a matching pair - saloon and convertible? I wish I could get that for my rather larger car, but perhaps Knutsford's a bit posher than Derby.

I know a lot of people suggest removing the passenger seat, but it's getting more difficult to persuade people that two or more cars are essential, so you finish up doing several trips.

i am doing a wedding at the end of june and my insurance company made a very reasonable charge for one days wedding insurance so if you are thinking of using your car, do not be put off by insurance. I offered to take the front seat of my car to make it easier for the bride to get in and out but she said she has a small dress so no need.

I also done a favour for someone. Their dad was a retired policeman and the bride wanted me to take her and dad to the church. My insurance company said I coud do this wedding but I couldn't make a charge. The bride paid the cost of petrol and gave me a cheque for a charity of my choice. Everyone loved the Panda and the charity thanked me for my donation. I am now booked again in April.[frame]Image[/frame]
