Hi,

I was looking for a replacement for my faulty flasher unit when a saw one combined with hazard lights

Has anybody used this? Is it just a matter of swapping the unit and adding a switch on the dashboard to put 12v on the hazard terminal?

Do switches with embedded light require extra wiring?

On my '68 Traveller I used a hazard light kit with a pull switch which I fitted in the hole vacated by the screen washer pump. The instructions were straight forward except for an error in the wiring which was fairly obvious. The hazard kit is wired into the existing flasher unit and also operates the trailer hazards.

The flasher unit is only part of the story. You also need a special switch that connects the flashing pulse to all indicator at the same time whilst disconnecting the normal switch and flasher. Also, by law, you need a warning lamp to show that the hardards are operating. Can all be done, but buying the complete kit is the neatest way of getting reliable hazards. Most of the traders do them.

Be warned - if you have them, they must work correctly to pass the MOT.
