No, but this year I have volunteered to help out with the area 5 liason.

The real Morris Minor club to me and I'm sure many others is our local branch. Our local branch- East Kent is very good and active. If you want to make a difference, get involved at your local branch level.

I tend to agree with au, if you live in the South it's a fair old trek, and a bit pricey just to go for a couple of hours.

i have been on more than one occasion,this year i went to work at 5 in the morning did my delivery then drove up to derby and attended the agm just made it in time,then drove 2 hours home .i was the only person from our branch there .

If more people attended could they have any effect?

So how do I say I've been several times, plus attended some in an official capacity, and I'm going to this years?

Certainly, but there is rarely 100 members present inc the committee and branch officials, which is in my mind dreadful, when we are supposed to have 12,000 members. So yes if there is a consensus of opinion about a specific issue or proposal and a decent sized group attended then there might be a possibility of it being accepted.
I may be wrong , but I think that new proposals are accepted for the committee to decide on at a later date ??

If you wish to participate , but cannot attend, then I'm sure if you register your proposal or vote within the alloted time one of us could present for you.
Yet another good reason to have the AGM at the National , where we would already have a 'fair' representation of the membership.

The AGM is open to all members but is not compulsory, and as an earlier response showed, when members were previously asked for their views on the club only 2,000 out of a possible 14,000 or so replied so this seems to indicate that a large proportion of members seem to be happy with the way that the club is run.

However as chickenjohn has already stated, if you wish to take an active part in the club you can join your local branch. All branches are represented at the AGM so even if you can't attend yourself your branch representative will be able to put forward suggestions etc on your behalf. Although there may be a small number actually attending the AGM many are there to represent the views of their branch members, of which there are hundreds. From my attendance at this years AGM it seems that most debate, discussion of ideas etc takes place at the branch meeting prior to the actual AGM so joining a branch seems to be the the way to go if you want an active say in how things are run.

Jonathon - have you thought about joining your local branch? I'm sure they would welcome your views and ideas and could also put these forward for you at the AGM if you are unable to attend.

An alternative view to this statement is that they didn't feel that their views would be considered so didn't bother to reply...

As the header say's, 'just for interest' no covert operation or hidden agenda, just a very simple question to see how many forum users actually attend the AGM.
What you say is a bit worrying Louise:-

This in effect means that a proposal made by an idividual then, will clearly not be given the same time and attention as ones submitted via a branch.Disappointing as in general the AGM's I have attended have been somewhat rushed affairs.

I have not considered joining my local branch, mainly due to a very poor reception I was given at a Coventry branch some years ago, and the Warwick area until recently had no representation. Anyway this question has nothing at all to do with the poll nor my relationship with the club, other than this forum.
Re suggested contentment based on 2000 replies from a potential 14000, could be seen as manipulative to say the least, as there is no evidence that the 2000 replies said that they were happy, almost like saying only some trades are actually traders, words and figures can be devilish in their true meaning.
So back to the voluntary poll..............

I'm not sure that's how surveys work Louise, you can't assume a positive in absence of a negative.

No, but neither can you assume a negative in the absence of a positive.

The point I was making was that when all members were given the opportunity to put forward their views previously only 15% responded. Members are again to be asked for their views and ideas so it doesn't follow, as others have said in recent threads, that the committee is not interested in the views of the membership. I think we should wait to see what the response to the survey is, and the published results, before suggesting that the club doesn't act on the views of it's members.

The point I was making with regards to joining a branch is that members who are not able to attend the AGM, for whatever reason, can have their ideas and suggestions put forward by their branch representative. Just trying to offer a practical solution for those who can't attend. If you are not a member of a branch you can still contact the club directly, without needing to attend the AGM.

Well that's just an assumption, unless you have an example of this happening? Any member is free to put forward, in advance of the AGM, proposals for discussion. For a number of reasons I don't belong to a branch but on the few occasions that I have contacted a Committee member they have responded quickly and I have not at any time got the impression that they were not interested in what I had to say.

I guess we need to wait and see to "actions" from the response I get from presenting the comments from my thread before we make a definitive assumption...... Somehow, I think I know which way it will go
