Lowlight headlamps refurb + Grille

I've got the glass off the lowlight lamps and have polished off the nickel down to bright brass. dent removal took a while but I'm almost ready to get them refinished. Does anyone have any experience and/or rocommendations for the material to replate the surface? Chrome or Nickel?

Also, the grille needs a little TLC where scratches have dug into the chromework. The chrom-bloke won't touch the grille due to the polishing mops getting eaten by all the grooves and sharp edges. What is the collective wisdom with regards refinishing the grille?

I used a company in Yorkshire to re chrome my grill, I will have to look for the receipt to remember there name. They dont advertise and are recommended by word of mouth. They made a great job of my cheesegrater grill and removed a couple of small dents at the same time. Costed about £100 including postage.

Alternatively, what about this new old stock never been chromed one thats on ebay at the minute?!?!

I'm having my lenses rechromed. £5 each one. Sounded quite a good price so I thought I'd mention it here. He won't touch the grille(s), though. I've had fun getting the glass off and then playing with a Maglite torch through the hole. Unlensed, it will give a circular pattern against the wall but when the glass goes back on it gives a very flat pattern, much like a line across the road. Weird!

After doing some research on this around 20 years ago, I had my headlamps re-silvered, not chromed.

A quick Google brings up some info on this:
