Today me and my dad went to start his beloved Morris minor after 4months sitting about, after charging the battery the car burst into life, unfortunately the car revved its nuts off and we have no idea why, we checked the obvious like sticking choke and throttle cables, and also checked the piston in the carb, yet it still persisted.
After removing the air box we noticed that it was full of oil, half a pint to be exact. The car is a 1957 example and is completely original.
Anybody any ideas on whats wrong with it?
Much appreciated
Tom

Should be easy enough to see if the carb throttle is properly closed -as above - it's likely it's been disturbed when working on the battery. The old air filters are supposed to have oil in - if later type - with paper element - then obviously the engine is throwing fume and oil out of the breather. If that's the case - the paper filter will be choked with oil too - throw it away!
It rather suggests the engine may not be in the best of health..........
