HI ya I'm new. I live in Australia and just bought my first Morris. My rego papers say it was made in 52 but I don't know exactly which type of Morris she is.
The rego papers say the Engine number is A12122424 and there is also another un named number CHN SMM139037.
If there is any other info I could give you that would make it easier to find out please tell me and I shall provide.
Thanks muchly
Sarah

From the chassis number (the second number you gave) it is what is known as a series MM. The car should also be fitted with a 918cc sidevalve engine, which I believe it is going by the engine number you have given but I'm no expert.
I'm sure Mike Perry (Registrar for the MM Registry) will be in contact with you soon to take details from you about your car. He's the man to ask if you have any questions.
Also there is a section of this board dedicated to Series MM cars. You'll find it
HERE
Welcome to the board and most of all have fun driving your car
Also post some photos up, we all love seeing photos

Thank you so much. My next question is what is the colour of my car called. It's a very very pale blue nearly white.
I was also wondering if the fact my car has a split screen makes it anymore special not that it can get anymore special to me

Yes - these cars did have the 'split screen' - obviously owners now love them, but at the time (~1957) the 'new' one piece screen was THE thing to have ! Best if you can post up some pictures - so we can judge the colour. Do you think it's the original colour ?

If the car is it's original colour it is probably thames blue, I don't have a photo of one at the moment but I think there are some pictured in a recent thread in the series MM section of the messageboard.

Hi Sarah,
The chassis no SMM 139037 gives your car a build date of around April 1952. Thames blue was the only blue colour available from 1950-52 although yours may have faded in the sunlight. If you go to the Series MM website
http://seriesmm.mmoc.org.uk and click on Members Cars or other galleries there are plenty of photos of Series MMs and there is also a list of register cars. Tech. Info and Car Ident will give you a lot of useful information.
Where abouts in Australia are you? There are several thriving Morris Minor Clubs around I can recommend the book Post War Morris 60 Years On, it will give you an introduction to many of the Series MM owners in Australia and NZ.
Could you please email me the details of your car and your contact details for the Series MM Register
