Is this the green light below the dash on the right? Mine is coming on, but the oil is clear and oil pressure OK.
Should I be concerned?

I don't think it would be a green light it would be red or amber as it is a warning of something wrong. When is the light coming on and are all your other warning lights working OK?

Re: Blocked oil filter warning lamp
Personally I think the blocked filter light is about as much use as a chocolate exhaust pipe. I use the extra light for my heated rear windows.
Re: Blocked oil filter warning lamp
If fitted (there should be a connector on top of the filter housing) it works on a pressure differential switch. Check that the filter has the correct spring and plate fitted (if original type of filter). Otherwise use the warning lamp for something else

Re: Blocked oil filter warning lamp
What speedo is in the car? The only speedos with a blocked filter warning light are the black ones which have an amber blocked filter warning light on the left above the main beam light.
They are about as much use as a chocolate tea pot. I use mine for the trailer indicators warning light.

This light is not in the speedo. Must be something added by a former owner. I plan to ignore it. Thanks for all the comments.

Maybe you should follow the wire from the light to see where it goes to? If someone has gone to the trouble to fit it, you would assume it is important. When does it come on ???tim hayes wrote:This light is not in the speedo. Must be something added by a former owner. I plan to ignore it. Thanks for all the comments.

I would be concerned if a light was coming on and off on its own and I would definately take steps to follow the wiring. You never know, it could be important. Why did you think it was a filter warning light?

Re: Blocked oil filter warning lamp
I tracked the wires to a junction switch in the brake fluid lines on the right floor pan near the horn mount. The master cyinder is full and there is no evidence of brake fluid leak anywhere. My brakes are good. I now realize the lamp comes on every time the brake pedal is pushed. The previous owner had rigged a switch to the brake pedal to activate the tail lights (which I have removed and rewired the tail lights properly. Obviously the lamp is not related to the oil system as I wondered. Thanks for the help everyone. (1964 tourer RHD in the USA).
