best seat belts for a 2door saloon?

Post by //no.comment »

Ok then guys(and gals), which is the best set to be fitting?

Ive outlined three options below:
http://www.morrisminorspares.net/shop_item.php?ID=3665
http://morrisminorspares.co.uk/shop/pro ... a9b063ad1e
http://morris-minor.org/seatbelt-front- ... p-548.html

Which set are people using/not using, I don't wanna just go for the cheapest one on seat belts, particularly as theres not much in it price wise, Ive herd people mention the securon ones, are these superior in any way? is worth an extra fiver?
recommendations very much welcome!

They are another item on my ever increasing list of parts i need!

Thanks!
Andrew

They are all Securon belts. I bought mine from Bull Motif but they will all come from the same place originally. Choose on price or preferred supplier.....

Be extremely careful which Securon model you buy some of them are not very long and you have to be twiggy to use them. There was a post a few months ago which details this very problem. Sorry I dont know which model is fitted to mine I only know they are very short.

What year is the car and does it already have the mountings built in?
The cheapest seat belts don't come into the question. They are there to save your life so the only question is "which are the best?"
Look out for one thing, some seat belt buckles have the release button on the top and side of the buckle, some only on the side. Both are the same make, Securion I think.

its a 68 2 door saloon with all the mounting bolts in place,

Is it just a simple job of bolting it all in if there is already mounting places or is there something Im missing?

Im pretty twiggy so i think ill be alright in that aspect :) the only problem is im quite tall.
Are they all three point seat belts? they all seem to have the same buckle release buttons on both top and side, so im eagerly awaiting some more people who have experienced the different suplliers

Thanks for the feedback so far

Although I didnt buy my seatbelts from them (came with the car) I generally use Bull Motif and I've bough a lot of parts from them very good except for an ongoing problem with a brake servo which I have no doubt will be amicably resolved. Also used MMC with no problems either. There is one company I would beware of but I'm not allowed to mention them

Don't use 2nd hand seat belts off a Metro or anything else. You don't know where they have been or been used. Splash out on a new set of belts, you have only got one life.

Good advice - however, the same can be said for any second hand car you buy. Inspect any belts carefully (don't just rely on the MOT tester). If you find any damage, fraying, pinching, holes etc, replace them sooner rather than later....
