If I have occasion to quote a sentence or part of, from a post to raise a point, I find that the whole post is reproduced rather than the section I needed. Is this normal now?

I think it's a browser version fault. I also noticed this - I only highlighted the last line of your post but when I hit the quote button it reproduced your whole message. I'm using IE8. I used to use IE6 and had no problem.

Just press quote then delete the text you don't want before submitting.

That's the obvious solution, but it can be annoying if you're using a laptop with a touchpad mouse as the damned things have a will of their own. You end up leaving bits of words, or accidentally deleting the text you want to quote.
