ignition switch.

help. have just conected a fully charged battery to car, went to start it nothing? its a lucas type switch. no lights ,horn, indicator, changed fuses, cleaned, earths,etc. all wiring seems ok. could it be the switch? :cry: :cry: :cry:

Head / side lights at the very least wil be working without ignition so it seems that the battery may not be connected. Have you got a pull start - if so you can press the button on the solenoid to see if the engine turns over....

found the problem,the guy i bought it off had fitted a fused link in the power lead which was loose, so hopfully it will start tomorrow :roll: :roll: :roll:

That is VERY dangerous! If it blows when engine is running then the voltage will go sky high - bursting bulbs/ruining wireless/ruining alternator if you have one - dynamo may survive though! You should NOT have a fused link in the main supply. Get rid of it!
