Has anyone else ever experienced this? Since fitting the new carb I have had a nasty rattle through the choke cable. What is happening is that the choke mechanism on the carby (which is held together by clevis bolts and split pins and therefore prone to vibration) is rattling when the engine reaches certain revs. This vibration is causing the inner choke cable to rattle inside the sheath ending up at the knob.

Have disconnected the cable and now as silent as can be. Any tips on preventing the cable from rattling?

Your car must be quiet if you can hear that sort of rattle. Try a smear of grease along the inner cable.

I've seen a thin "wavy" washer used to prevent this sort of thing.
You just need to take up the slop in the clevis bolts while leaving enough play for them to move.

I was also going to suggest a wipe of grease on the inner - and - if it's long enough, run it in a loop and perhaps tie-wrap it to something else to discourage the rattling!
