Firstly, hello everyone!
Ive been lurking around here for a while, trying to find the right minor and trying to gleam as much information as possible!
Ive finely got one! huzzah!i bought it from the "for sale" section here.
I wanted to show it off, its a 1968 2 door saloon(anyone know what colour it is? im colour blind anyway!)

[frame]Image[/frame]

just a couple of questions:

I shall be adding a radio and speakers, ive got two options:
-inserting an old +ve earth radio, which i already have
-switching to -ve earth and installing a good cd player with mp3 input etc which I have also, Im pretty confident ill be able to do this, Im a second year electrical engineering student!

Where have people placed speakers? Pictures would be much appreciated, as far as i can see there are two options either in the front parcel shelf, or in the rear one.

Does anyone in the Sheffield area have any of the following:
-front bumper valence? mines sort of...rusty.
-front indicator base? also sort of rusty
-an interior light lens?

Sorry about all the questions!

Andrew

Well it's nice to see the car back on this board so soon! Welcome.

I may be wrong but if it is a 1967/8 car I think the colour of yours is "Rose Taupe" - same colour as powdered drinking chocolate, and the same colour as my Traveller - same colour interior as well Cherokee Red.

If you're after parts I suggest you post a request in the Wanted section of this board, or have a look at ebay - loads of spares there. Take a look at the New Member section too.

Hi Andrew,
It's difficult to tell from the photo but I think the car may be Peat Brown, Lou might be right though about Rose Taupe though I think Peat brown replaced Rose Taupe in late 1967 so it will depend on when the car was built.

As for the stereo, if you remove the scuttle panels at the sides of the front parcel shelf you will see there are indentations perfect for fitting speakers, this is my stereo and speaker arrangement.[frame]Image[/frame]

Well it looks as though we have answered the question!

It was first registered on 23 01 1968 , that would make it peat brown right?

Where is the best place for getting hold of this paint? I presume it wont be stocked in halfords!

Thanks!

It certainly looks Peat Brown. On line sellers (Bull Motif etc) will sell it in rattle cans...

Hi,
May be worth contacting your local branch for friendly advice and local source of spares. Its the Barnsley Branch - meet 1/2way between Sheffield and Barnsley.
For paint, I'd use Autopaint at Attercliffe, if they're still there (been a year or two since I was based in Sheffield) or Sinemaster in Chapeltown are very good at matching paint up - will work from the colour codes and then tweak it to match a sample.
