Anyone know if Mini cams fit a Minor engine and if so which one is equivalent to a 1098 cam?

Yes -Mini cams fit - but most have different oil pump drive - so you need to buy a new pump (good idea anyway) and drill/tap the block because over the years they have changed the location of the fixings!

The 1098 cam is AEA 630. A Cooper S AEG 148 cam is exactly the same (timing and lift) - except has the better /wider cam lobes and has same oil pump drive. Chances of finding one are slim! AEG 510 (later Cooper S) is slightly better timing - and still same oil pump drive, and 2A948 is better again (Cooper 997 cam) - but quite rare, still same oil pump drive though!

After that - you are into the 'spider drive' cams - and new 'spiders' are hard to find although the cams and oil pumps are plentiful! And then it's into the 'peg' drive cams - which continued to the end.
Note for 1275 engine you need 'long shaft' pump - and for 948/1098 the short shaft pump. The spider pump was never made in 'short' version! Although some have been known to swap shafts about!

Certainly spider drive ! Don't see any other markings - so probably standard 1275 cam. As before - unfortunately there are no 'short' spider pumps. And - spiders are hard to find if you haven't got one!

You can always have your existing cam re profiled which is what I am doing with my Series MM cam.

Make sure they harden it up afterwards!

MM cam? Hmmmm. Where are you having it done, Mike?

A small establishment in Napton that builds racing engines. Actually the cam is a spare that has already been modified but I don't have any figures for it so they are going to measure it and then decide if it needs any more work on it. The idea is to get a good bit of low down power. A cam that comes in at 3000 rpm would be totally useless on an MM.

Cheers for that - on the look out for a standard 1098 one then...

I have one - was intending flogging it to you - but on close inspection it's got some pitting on the lobe ramps...........

Don't actually have figures to hand for that kent 256. If it has higher lift than standard (and it likely has - most kent cams do) - that makes it difficult with the 940 head............
And I see it's rip-off £10 postage!
