How long should you allow for fitting,is it a big job?

My view is that a servo is NOT required (or desireable) with drum brakes. If in good working order they will lock the wheels and only need moderate foot pressure in normal use. After all - the car was designed for little old ladies to drive! If the brakes are not working well - fitting a servo will not make them any better! I suggest a good brake overhaul is the way to go - and then decide if you really need a servo. You should be able to fit it in a day - but remember you will need to repipe to the rear brakes to bring them into the servo circuit. And - if there is no 'take off' in the inlet manifold for the vacuum connection - it will need to be removed and drilled/tapped to take a suitable fitting.

Very much agree with BM re servo and drums, servo and discs however is a different proposition.

Ah yes - because discs are much less efficient mechanically (no self-servo action from the leading shoes) - they need a higher hydraulic pressure - one of the 'snags' to fitting discs on a Minor!!

Thanks for all your comments.
If fitting discs do the back brakes still need to be re piped?

You need to re-pipe upto the flexi on the axle when servo assisting all four brakes.

If just fitting front discs - no servo - then no need to repipe the rear brakes. You do however need to remove the master cylinder and remove the 'top hat' seal - and you may want to fit a 'remote' brake fluid reservoir.
beware -some types tend to leak!!

If youre fitting a remote reservoir kit then throw the plastic tie-wraps supplied away and fit the correct size jubilee clips at each end. You will also need to block off the hole in the master cylinder cap

Thank you,how do you block the cap off,is there another cap to buy?
Thanks again

I think that some of the parts suppliers do sell a replacement cap but just block it off with Araldite or a small self tapper with some thread seal on it

No issues with the Lockheed ones though
