Does anyone have any info on the dealer "Colmore Depot" in Birmingham and in particular is there anyone around who worked there during 1960?

I'm sure I've come across some pictures of this recently, I am wracking my brain trying to think where - wasn't elsewhere on this site was it?

There was a thread recently asking if there was a Colmore Depot in Worcester or Gloucester. My info tells me they were Birmingham based in Station Street and Hill Street which was where one of my cars was supplied to as an open chassis cab. I'm trying to find out if they built it into something or just supplied it as it was built.....

77 Station Street and 20 Hill Street Birmingham in the 1930's. Need to do a bit more digging to find our how long they stayed there.

I have been searching for info on the Colmore Depot for the past few years. I have found photocopies of pictures of the outside of the premesis and some copies of the adverts placed in papers advertising the sale of bicycles and motorcycles going back to when god was a boy.
I contacted the birmingham industrial history people and got very little.
I am very interested in any info forthcoming

Well Kevin answered my query. I knew they were at 77 Station Street B'ham in the 1930's but couldn't find out how long - now know 30 years +!

Hi All... I had noticed your Colmore Depot discussion on Google...so..not too certain if my input is too late and of no use but here goes.

I worked for a sister company of Colmore in Kings Heath, Birmingham which went under the name of Arnold Genders, we picked up our spares everyday from the main Cherrywood Road depot in Bordesley Green, other garage venues were at ..Hall Green, Perry Barr (commercial only), Station Street(sales),Bromsgrove Street (spares)...we had one at Parkside Coventry and other districts in Birmingham and one in Rugby of which the grey matter cannot recall the addresses,and there were a great many too...... most depots were refferred to by their address number....:ie Cherrywood Road was 292 because that was it's number in C/wood Road... only Arnold Genders kept the full name for invoices etc. in the Birmingham area. I was there from 1962 until end of 1964... most enjoyable too.

Silly things still remain in the mind like part numbers.... SU petrol pumps were AUA 26..most reliable...fan belts 2A 801....but got changed to 13H859 ...made stronger to cope with the 1100 engine versions, ARA57 & 58 was the exhaust I think... I always recall how reliable the Minors were....unlike the Mini's and 1100's...we had a guaranttee claims pile that would have sunk the Titanic....all from Mini's and 1100's, on the Minors the front king pin bushes were to be watched....a neglected one would see a Minor with the front wheel sticking out and the wing resting on it, apart from that all went very well indeed, the exhaust straps used to go but they were a cheap repair anyway, I also recall all the mechanics would choose to work on a Minor rather than a Mini or 1100.... I loved the Traveller Car... our service van was a Minor 1000 and it would be thrashed to ....whatever you'd like to call it... and never gave a problem..... off the clock...wheelspin... every idiot drove it like a racing car and it was brilliant....

How stupid to stop production !!!! it had been forecast for termination so many times even when I worked at Colmore...but it was so reliable and trustworthy....

Hello,I worked at Colmore Depot in the Sales Department,typing all the outgoings of new minis for Eric the distribution manager we was very busy at the height of the Mini fame, loved it there Mr Proctor was my Manager. Happy Times, Gina

It is nice when old threads pop up out of nowhere after (in this case 2 1/2) years - thankyou Gina ! My other Moggie (1937 Morgan F-type three-wheeler) was supplied by Colmore Depot and still has an enamel plaque to that effect on the dashboard.
