And yet more snow!

Post by moggyadventurer »

I cannot believe it. Since this cold snap I have been able to get out to work on all occassions, until today anyway. I thought that starting at lunchtime would be no problem, with about 3inches of snow overnight. Well the main roads are now clear, but the half mile to them up hill has proven to much. I guess its karma as I was laughing at those struggling earlier to get up the hill. Perhaps in someways this is best as I can now spend the afternoon on the mmoc messageboard. How as everyone else found it today, and the apprently is more to come.

Pasitively tropical here today +0.4 Celcius. Above zero for the first time this year. More snow due overnight. Looks nice as long as you dont have to go anywhere

Yep, I am topping up my suntan +2 in Inverness today 8) . For the first time in 3weeks I haven't had to de-snow/ice the car or clear snow of our garden steps.

In shropshire, we have hovered between -3 and 1c in the day time. I must admit, I hope to be coming up your way for a break in the next six weeks, providing this weather breaks a little. Try my hand at skiing!

The snow will all be gone by then!
Steady 3 degrees here - all last night too. Gentle thaw on the go - although the rivers are still frozen over.

Oh no it wont :D :D . The snow on Cairngorm Mountain will be here for (hopefully) the rest of the winter and well into spring. http://www.cairngormmountain.co.uk/ This is the best start to the ski season in over 20 years. The skiing is fantastic (although the mountain road was closed today due to snow/wind) so I would recommend you come on up. Better than going to France the natives are friendly and we speak a similar language

I was joking...........

But I have 'enjoyed' slithering down the frozen slush on Cairngorm - with rain running down my neck -more than once. Put me right off skiing!

Done smilar myself on the north face of Cairngorm in June. I was so suprised to see the stuff that enthusiasm got the better of me and had a go at sliding down the stuff. As I picked up speed I realised I'd bitten off more than I could chew and ended up with very sore palms using my hands as brakes and a numb bumb where I shot off the end of the ice cap on to the rocks.

Most of the problems with modern cars are caused by big fat low profile tyres and a complete lack of ground clearance. Neither of which the Minor suffers from. I reckon with a limited slip diff the Minor would go just about anywhere

Some of it lies with the drivers. On my short journey in the thick of it last Tuesday I lost count of the number of drivers I saw and heard applying more and more power as they started to loose traction. the result was glass-smooth ice and precious little hope for those that followed.
