Kids n snow

What an evening. 4.00 I cycled home on wet roads. 6.00 I attempt to pick up the kids from my parents 2 miles away. No such chance. the snow has come down and the roads are treacherous. even in busy Southampton with a constant stream of cars the main routes are near impassable. On a level road in my front wheel drive car my rear wheels are wandering sideways with the camber of the road. I never got out of 2nd gear and got 1 mile from home, took a look down a short hill and realised that was that. vehicles at all angles. A 2 mile journey took 1 hour.
Funniest thing was there was a bloke trying to get out of a side turn so I left a gap and as he moved out at walking pace and appearing not to spin his wheels he still ended up at 45 degrees to the traffic and hitting the kerb. Then when he drives away his back wheels are slipping wildly and the car drifts sideways into the kerb again. The car? A 4wd Subaru Legacy. Laugh? you bet!
