Web Rallies 2010

Post by RogerRust »

Why don't we try and visit one of the many private collections.

Chris Evans :o has a nice collection and has or had a Morris 1000. Perhaps someone could contact him?

Rossie Hamilton has a collection of Morris Minors. This might even cement our relation with her

Bill might open his carcoon and show us his treasured car.

Any other ideas??

I tried contacting Chris Evans when there was a thread on here a while ago about his white convertible but got no response :(

I think we might try Chris.Evans@bbc.co.uk It might be more effective if we try and use an official mmoc email so it's over to the webmasters or reqalia lou I guess! On top gear he said he liked to show people his cars, always worth a try.

Bill is a little less famous, but has an interesting collection of cars. I wonder if we might persuade any other members and friends to show their vintage or classic cars. I bet that there are a few Jags and the like out there.

I've pinged a few emails to try and find out what happened to the Patrick Collection, I don't know if I'll get a response but it used to be a famous car museum in Birmingham, it closed but for a while I think you could arrange a private visit with a group of 10 or more. The mother company (formerly Patrick Motors Group) is now an investment firm of some sort so I have emailed them to see if it is still possible to visit the collection or even if it still exists, there is no recent web activity for it. May have been disbanded years ago but I'm at least intrigued to know what happened to it (went there as a boy!).

The Patrick Collection still exists, although a lot of the really interesting cars have been sold off. The B'ham Branch held a rally there in 2006 I think. It's only open by appointment.

I bought a Sierra Cosworth off them a few years ago for a friend of mine in Japan - Very nice people to do business with so I'm sure they would be accomodating...

I've had a response from the Patrick Collection - it still exists and has around 50 vehicles, housed in a non-purpose built warehouse facility, charges a nominal entrance fee of around £5 per adult, and is open by appointment.

I'll try and find out more, but in the meantime is there support for this as a suitable Web Rally opportunity? location is King's Norton, maybe it could be combined with some other attraction in the area.

Cheers,

Paul.
