i don't know the answer to your question.... but whats a gasgit? some old git who is constantly moaning!? sorry! but its spelt gasket!

The 948 Gasket shouldn't be used on the 1098. There's not a huge difference so it might work anyway - It depends
1) if you're skint and have plenty of free time you could be willing to try it.
2)If you're not completely skint, Gaskets aren't very expensive so why risk having to do the job twice...

Lee, engine rebuild 1098 or other, IMO assemble on bench not floor, keep everything clean and use a torque spanner to tighten nuts/bolts use suitable silicon for gaskets or blue hermatite thinly spread, you can also buy engine assembly paste for the bearings to keep things lubricated on initial start-up. Other than that follow good engineering practice and the manual!
