Pity you hadnt had one of those earlier in the week Roy.
Now why would you have a nice piece of kit like the snowblower in Aviemore where we have had about 5 feet of snow (not drifts - no wind). No it will no doubt be on standby at the mouth of the chunnel in case it gets blocked.
By the way have you seen the coverage of the train wreck at Carrbridge 5 miles north of me. Engine and several freight wagons (Tesco) sprawled all over the back gardens in Carrbridge. Apparently total brake failure when decending from Slochd summit luckily noone injured http://www.strathspey-herald.co.uk/ http://news.stv.tv/big-freeze/147981-tr ... highlands/

Thanks for the links! I had heard of the accident -and have been waiting for RAIB to put up an investgation note on the internet - so far - nothing. I WANT that hat with the torch attached - excellent! Been thinking how I could do something like that for a while!
BTW - the brakes can't 'fail' (any fault brings them hard ON) - but the rails may have been ice bound and the whole lot just sliding!
Quite scary I imagine!

Couple of exhaust clamps pop riveted on! Would have thought that a miners helmet, the type with the carbide lamp, would have been more appropriatebmcecosse wrote:I WANT that hat with the torch attached - excellent! Been thinking how I could do something like that for a while!
