Hi Pete,
You kindly kept your eyes open for replacement seats for Benny, well, you can close them now...the long wait for affordable replacement seats is over
I found these grey leather Rover 216 Coupe seats (so they tip forward) on ebay after many months of looking,
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... K:MEWAX:IT
They appear OK (I know looks can be deceptive) but I thought £90 for the whole interior was an OK gamble.
All I need to do now is sort out a way of fitting them...I have some ash that I might utilise as Im no welder...!
Cheers, Mike.

Hi Mike, Nice looking seats you've got there.
If you need any little bits of metal angle to make up brackets just shout.
Seem to have loads of offcuts at the mo.
I don't mind welding a couple together if you can come up with a sketch of what you want.

Most excellent!
The only thing I might add after Paul's generous offer is to enrol your back seat passengers into Yoga classes.

Hi Paul - thanks for that, I'll see if I can make up something reasonable and if it doesnt work out, I might just take you up on your offer...
Cheers, Mike.

Mike pay particular attention to the following:
1. The curvature of the transmition tunnel at the rear support of the seat where clearance is very tight for a vertical support. AND clearance for the seat runner beside the floor bulge for the handbrake.
2. The seat will support you better so any sag you experienced in the original seat will have to be accounted for when calculating the depth of the frame to provide your 'ideal' height.
3. proximity to seatbelt mounting on B post.
4. Space for feet of rear seat passengers.
5. the seats are damn heavy and bulky and getting them in and out of the car to measure up is a trial. removing the steering wheel is helpful!
While a wood frame would be strong enough I wonder if it would be possible to attach the runners safely given that any screws of bolts used have to be a low profile and secured while within the seat runner where access is limited.
I've probably missed a few things so any questions fire away.

Thanks for the tips Pete, I'll use them all! - the seats are being dispatched today so should have by the end of the week.
Hi Carlo - I will continue to keep an eye out just in case the "memory" problem was at my end

.
Cheers.
