How available is a LHD MM tunnel cover? Looking at what I have it really is almost non existent due to very very bad rusting as it fell apart when it was taken out. If I can't find one that is original fit, can one be modified from a M1000?

I would say that there is virtually nil chance of a LHD gearbox cover in UK, you are more likely to find one in USA or Canada. The only significant difference between a LHD and RHD cover is the hole for the brake master cylinder filler. It would be easy to drill a hole on the othe side of a RHD cover. A 948/1098 cover is a different shape with the remote gear shift hole in the wrong place. You may be able to adapt an 803 cover.

So what your saying is the RHD MM cover would fit if I were to cut another hole on the opposite side, say like the mirror image?
Did you say the 803 Series II would fit as well, LHD or RHD?

The RHD MM cover just needs the hole for the brake master cylinder cap on the left side otherwise you will have to remove the cover to top up the brake fluid.
The 803 cover is similar to the MM but you would probably still have to move the gear lever hole and the brake cylinder hole.

LHD MM sidevalve? I gave away an entire rolling shell of a lowlight to James on this site. It appears that he might be changing the engine and box so you might be able to persuade him to let you have the cover.

Thanks you guys (and you Josh for offering) for the availability update. I'm going to wait and see what James? has for a cover. I guess I could find a RHD MM cover and just cut a hole on the other side and make due, or just change it back to RHD...just kidding!
I guess we can now say that this is on the "hens teeth" list!

There was one on ebay only last week with a start price of only 99p!! I will watch if it comes on again and let you know.

Nothing found so far. I've got the front lamp cowls off and mine are like new so I may try to take a GRP mould off them. I'm in the middle of welding a chassis frame up to wheel the empty bare chassis round the garage so I don't have much room to move stuff abaout. I have a nasty suspicion that I didn't keep the dashboard covers since they had been a bit knackered at the bottom edge. I guess the hinges are still on the bodyshell. If I find 'em, I'll let you know.
I've also bought a wheeling machine to roll new cowlings for my aeroplane ans those cowls look a doddle to make by comparison.

Sorry for the thread drift, but does anyone else need cowls round the back of the headlights?

The gearlever cowl for LHD is almost identical and if unable to find aLHD one it would be simple to fabricate a small cover plate to make a RHD work and look identical to a LHD one but with an extra hole for the redundant RHD hole, if you see what I mean. It would take me about an hour to make.

Do you mean headlight original shrouds or glass ones taken from your moulds? I could do with a nearside one mines a bit thin.

I could make new ones in ali or take a mould off the good ones and make some GRP moulds to be shared around. I have a pair of rough ones that would need quite a bit of work on the bottom edge (well, lower 2 inches needs replacing)
It is all a question of time since none of the options is quick.

About 40 minutes including the cutting out. Not finished yet but you can get the idea. The polished bit is the new nose cowling piece for my aeroplane plus a credit card to get a sense of scale.
