Ride Height - 1098 Traveller

Having had to replace a front wishbone and therefore having to reset the torsion bar. It has all gone together smoothly - Same height both sides and sitting level.
BUT - it may be my imagination but she seems to be sitting rather higher than than previously. Could someone please give me the dimension from a level floor to a fixed point (eg the centre of the inner fulcrum pin just to make sure I havnt screwed up somewhere.
The flattend rear springs dont help but she does appear to be ready for take off at any minute

HI Bill, I think the general rule is that you should be able to sit your hand upright (pinky on the tyre) on the top of the tyre (fully inflated tyre of course) and the 4th finger should be almost touching the bottom of the wheel arch. If this is way out then you will need to move the lower suppension arm around 1 spline to lower it this gives about an inch of movement.

Have you used new bushes as it maybe they will all just take time to settle in so use the car for a week or so and see how it looks then. If you are still not happy then the torsion bar can be adjusted in smaller incremnets 1/4 inch by using the vernier plate on the xmember. Jeff

Jeff, took the oppertunity to rebuild the lot including new poly-bushes I think its maybe my imagination (or looking for faults where there aint none). I'll take your advice and run her for a week or so before I start to panic.

The workshop manual gives a dimension of 10 11/16 inches from ground to the centre of the eyebolt in the chassis.
It also gives a dimension of 10 11/16 inches from ground to centre line of the torsion bar at the rear on the cross member. (so the torsion bar should lie parallel to the ground)
It also states that the 'vernier' plate (with all the holes) at the rear of the torsion bar, gives a height change of about 1/4 inch per step.
It also staes that one spline of movement will change the height by 1 1/2 inches
That's a lot of statements, but I am sure they will be usefull!

Keep it high for the winter - to stop the sump acting as a snow plow!
