leadfree cylinder
Im looking at the charles wares morris minor centres lead free cylinder and wondered if anyones got experience of them?I have contacted the centre about them and they assure me they've been using them for a few years on many cars with no complaints but they would say that wouldn't they, so what do you lot think of them?Any good or bad reports?
No complaints ? Must be about the only thing they haven't had complaints about! I assume you are meaning a lead-free cylinder head? Unless you are doing long hard miles - on the Mway - don't bother. There is NO NEED to do anything - just set exhaust valve gaps to 15 thou - and check them/re-set them every 3000 miles or so. It will be fine! No need for additives either by the way!

No its not a cylinder head, its a cylinder containing, i think, copper that is placed in the fuel line and deposits copper(?) into fuel as it passes thru as a replacement for the lead.I had been told 20 years ago that a minor could cope with leadfree fuel by an older very competant ex mechanic mate of my dads but wasn't to sure if that still was the case and this cylinder at £75 seemed good.
' There is NO NEED to do anything - just set exhaust valve gaps to 15 thou - and check them/re-set them every 3000 miles or so'-BMC i wouldn't know how to do this, though i suppose i can learn.

No, but i read the Linsay Porter guide to morris minor many years ago and have ordered a copy which is taking to long to arrive. Also read various other books on morris minor but that was mainly over 15 years ago.Best for me to have a book in one had and the morris in the other or else the words dont mean much, hence why lindasy porters book was so good, words and pictures.

Workshop manual is currently encased in wrapping paper courtesy of Santa.I had a flick through before mother grabbed it from my hands saying, "not before christmas" .No worries, at the moment im just greasing and wire brushing and soon to be underside priming and painting so dont need the manual just yet.
