Hi there. Just a quick question incase someone out there can help.
I have a 67 minor that will not restart when the engine is up to running temperature. Bit of a bind when you stop to re-fuel lol.
Any suggestions as to a cure would be grately received.

Likely to be a fuel over flowing problem. Try holding the throttle wide open while you crank it. Does the petrol pump 'tick' steadily when you switch on the ignition? If so - indicates that the needle valve in the carb float chamber is worn - and is allowing fuel to flow through even when the bowl is full. Doesn't matter when cold - it wants extra fuel then, or when running because it can use up the fuel. Probably a new needle vlave will solve the problem - cheap and easy!

The test is - does the fuel pump tick constantly ? It should tick once or twice when you switch on - but should then be silent.

No, there was no ticking when the ignition was switched on. Does this denote a fuel pump problem?

No - that's quite normal really, well - after the initial couple of ticks! Hmm - may simply be that the fuel level is set too high - although it's not really adjustable on these later carbs. Has this non-starting when hot thing happened just once - or several times?

Is the choke closing fully when you push the knob in? Push the centre of the carb jet upwards and there should be no movement.

Oh well - may be just a one-off. Next time it happens - foot flat to the floor - don't pump it - and crank it!
