Speedometer needle

Our speedo needle has recently decided to relive the swinging sixties! At speeds of 25 plus the needle has a range from 10 to 40, the swing increases the faster I go so by the time we're doing 50 the speedo swings between 20 and 80 depending on the mood its in!
I'm using a satnav to keep within the Law, (Although the thought of being stopped for speeding in the Winst does have a certain appeal!!)
My question is ..can I do anything or does the speedo need re-calibrating and if so can any workshop do it or should I stick to MORRIS SPECIALISTS ?

Check the outer and inner cables for damage.

Yes -it's the cable that is sticking - winding up and releasing. New cables are cheap and not too difficult to fit.

If you old cable is not damaged you can pull the inner cable out, grease it and put it back in. It may be old grease that has gone hard that is causing the problem.
