Welcome to the message board

We have a few posters here from America so hopefully they'll be able to provide some details. The only Minor club I've been able to find is the Morris Minor Registry of North America. Contact: Tony Burgess, 318 Hampton Park, Westerville, Ohio 43081-5723, USA. Ph.614.899-2394, Fx. 614.899-2493

I'd love to see a Morris Minor Club of America. If I could have a register of all the American owners of Minors (ie Morris Minor Registry...), then I'd contact as many as I could and try to rally a movement to make such a Club. Perhaps it could be a subsidiary or a correspondent of MMOC? Hmm.

I second that....
Much needed!

I also think it would be a great idea to have a Minor club, count me in if I can be of help or PM with any ideas. This is a great for site for information but really does not work if you are looking for large parts or whole cars (shipping gets pretty pricey). A U.S. site would help that a lot.

This appears to be a quickly-rolling ball now...that's good!
If we're taking this seriously, then we have three possible courses of action.
1. Ask the moderators to set up an American Register, like the Series MM and Custom & Modified Registers. I understand that that may create problems with our friends who have Minors in other parts of the world -- Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, etc. -- but registers for each separate nation would be murder. An alternative is continental registers: Europe, North America, etc. There aren't many countries in North America, so our job would still be simple.
2. If this is not possible, then ask the moderators to give us a list of all the people in the United States who are on the forum or part of MMOC. There may be privacy concerns here, and of course there are a lot of users who don't put up their location.
3. Go to the Morris Minor Registry of North America and ask them for a listing. There may be problems of mass here too: for instance, I have not registered, because it costs money.
I may be forgetting or ignorant of some possible paths, so please come up with other ideas, if you care to.
I've always wanted to know how many of the ~15000 American Moggies have survived. Maybe this is how we do it.

Why not submit an article to Minor Matters letting people know what you are planning and asking any American owners to contact you if they are interested in joining a Register? That way you will guarantee that you reach all club members in America. The club can not provide their details due to data protection issues. Then contact the North American register to get ideas on how they have set up and run their register, or even to discuss the possibility of expanding their register to include all american owners? If you get enough interest and want to go ahead with a register contact Rosie Hamilton (details in Minor Matters) to advise that you wish to set up a new register affiliated with the club.
There are separate forums here for Series MM and Custom & Modified Registers because they are affiliated with the club so it's not just a question of asking the mods to set up a forum for you I'm afraid.
Good luck

Great ideas, Louise! Many thanks to you.
This is all new to me, of course. I've never so much as organized a bake sale. But it seems to me a wonderful idea, and I seem to have some backing around the 'board.

I'll try and do both of these things during the summer, unless someone beats me to it (in which case, please tell me).
