jack that side up and rock the wheel vertically and horizontally you will feel play if the bearing is shot, also rotate the wheel and listen

When you take the bearings out spin them on your finger. One may feel sloppy or gritty.

normally the noise is the otherway round ie you hear the noise from the left when going round a right hand bend,as the weight of the car goes onto the left hand bearing, and vis versa .its a classic test for bearings,if the noise get less when rounding a bend then its the oposite wheel bearing, front or rear. That is it usually is,but not set in stone

A previous car of mine had terrible wheel bearing noise, I jacked it up many times to find out which one it was but was none the wiser!
It gave up the ghost big time and when I pulled it apart the balls were blue with heat!
Wifes Escort had a bearing packing up - so I did all the tests, more noise with more load when turning corners etc Pulled it all apart, changed bearings (which looked ok) All back together - no difference at all - it was the other side!
Make sure you pick the right side!!! (or the left!!!)
