Evening all,
what would be the effect of the oil pressure relief valve being faulty? Ie stuck, or the spring being too short?
(Not that I've got a problem, just curious, been reading the manual!!)
cheers,
N

Either too high or too low oil pressure depending on the valve being blocked / spring too short / too long / too hard / too soft etc. They hardly ever fail BTW if just left alone....

I had an almost instant increase to around 100 lb pressure when a bit of something got in the wrong place. I stopped and restarted, with everything back to normal, and drove the rest of the way home with one eye on the pressure gauge. The motor "felt different" when it happened. The only effect was the base gasket of the filter head needed to be replaced and the valve and housing cleaned out.

As long as you have ~ 70 psi pressure when cold and ~ 60 psi when running along hot, leave well alone ! They only give trouble when swarf gets stuck on the seat or down the side of the 'bucket'. Much more common problem with Minis - where all sorts of rubbish goes round with the oil from the gears !
