hi all,
i went to check the rad water today only to find i cant open the bonnet.... i think the pin may have fallen out from arm that you pull from the interior (cant think of the name for it).... is there a way to get into the engine bay without it?
thanks

The shaft of the bonnet pull pulls a lever on the LH side of the bonnet (when standing at the front). This lever then releases the catch.
If you poke a screwdrive in the gap on the left you should be able to push the lever backwards and release the bonnet. Maybeuse a torch to see if you can see the lever

That's the only hope - try again!

Yes just checked on mine, what I suggested won;t work at all
All I can suggest is to undo the two bolts holding the catch housing in the centre of the bonnet. Even if you can't get it all undone you may be able to release it enough to jiggle it about and free the bonnet
Good luck!

I haven't tried this, but if you lay on the ground and shine a torch either between the engine and the engine bay floor or through one of the holes in the floor, you should be able to see the lever and pull on it with a straightened out coat hanger with a hook in the end.

I'm thinking of running a nylon covered stainless steel release cable to that lever just in case that happens to me-anybody ever done this?

I think the metal pull-rod is solid enough! Hardly likely to fail. Just check the split pin etc next time you are in there.
