Faulty Bonnet release

Post by SteveBarton »

I wonder if anyone can help me please. I've just bought the car and the bonnet release mechanism isn't working now. Last weekend I had the same problem but then it just released. Same this weekend. I can see from underneath the rod running along the front of the radiator. I've tried pushing what I think is the catch that is attached to the pull rod by a split pin. Am I missing something obvious?
It's my first Morris 1000 in thirty years and I'm feeling a little foolish. Any help would be very much appreciated.

Where are you Steve - someone local may be able to pop round and show you how to do it as it is easier to do than describe. Also, I'll send you a pm with some pointers as it is not wise to advertise such actions on a public forum....
