As soon as the vehicle is scrapped you are unable to access any details from the website so you can presume it is still whole.

Cheers guys, as I thought then, probably off the road under a tarp or in a garage, if anyone reads this and knows who has the car I would really appreciate any info as I wouldnt mind trying to get hold of it to restore.

Regards Ben.

I live in Northumberland, so I'll keep an eye open - you never know.

DVLA only know if the car is scrapped - if someone tells them! Of course - you are supposed to do so - but many didn't bother. The recent SORN rules mean you really DO need to tell them - or keep renewing the SORN every year !

'Fraid this isn't the case. I scrapped my old 4-door saloon last March and notified DVLA immediately, then the DVLA record went from being SORNed to being Unlicensed. See below:

The vehicle details for BXF 598G are:

Date of Liability 01 03 2009
Date of First Registration 24 10 1968
Year of Manufacture 1968
Cylinder Capacity (cc) 1098CC
CO2 Emissions Not Available
Fuel Type Petrol
Export Marker Not Applicable
Vehicle Status Unlicensed
Vehicle Colour GREY
Vehicle Type Approval

There's still a small chance your Traveller could still be around as the DVLA record for it predates SORNs (I think), and in those days you could get away with not telling them you had scrapped it.

Good luck with your search, hope you find the car. Dont give up, it took me a good few years to find my car which had once been owned by my late grandfather and my father. My dad sold it in 1981 and I found it hiding in a lock up and bought it back in 2000, it had not been taxed since 1987! 13 years off the road, It would have been easy to believe it had been scrapped but it hadnt. Remember sorn only has to be declared for vehicles which tax disc ran out on or after 1998, january I think, so it could still be out there even if it says unlicenced. I would ring DVLA, limited what they will tell you because of data protection but they may tell you if there has been any more recent activity?
