my other car needs an engine (austin somerset to be precise) and these engines are like rocking horse poo, however ebay has one well with in my price range, but it is in the delightfully close city of inverness (many miles from lincolnshire)
so, is it false logic to secure this engine for mere peanuts, but have to shell out for petrol and probably a hotel? (the moggy will take a while to get there and back)
false logic?

Hi mate, I can't help with collection but try to see if a courier (www.interparcel.co.uk) will collect if it is secured to a pallet as a lot of these companies will move heavier objects for a fee. You need to give fairly accurate weight and dimensions.

I noticed a couple of A40 engines for sale recently. A pallet delivery would cost around £100 I'd guess.
If the engines are useable without any work, then it may be cost effective.
I threw out a really good gold seal A40 engine about 25 years ago - no one wanted it.
