I insured my 1275 traveller with aon in 07... £90 fully comp, I was then 24.
I'm now 26, I ring themm up and its double (£186 with club discount). Seems changing the name to FJ doubled it.
Same car, same mods same address everything.
Also, back then the phone operator knew something about moggies and mods, now they might as well be a meerkat...
Adrian Flux however is £154 - no club discount.
I thought the club scheme was meant to be better (or at least the same) maybe we should be asking them why they are not so competitive as others if they are 'our' club scheme.
Anyone else found the same?

The price went down from (round terms) £155 to £105 but the admin was terrible. Have to see how it goes. Remember that the Club had no say in who took over who, that was a commercial agreement between insurers.

True but the club should be representing its members in these matters - Incidentally though my isurance didn't change when I fitted a 1275 as it was recognised by AOL as a standard mod....

You have to take into account the 'extras' provided in the cover. For example Footman James provide motor legal expenses, 24 hr breakdown recovery in UK & Euroope, personal accident cover etc as standard, which Aon didn't. And don't forget that all insurance costs have risen since 2007 so it may not necessarily be the change of name that has increased your premium. However, as with all things, it usually pays to shop around.
A similar query - I am currently insured with Aon with renewal due in January. Will Footman James automatically contact me about renewal or will I need to contact them myself? I'll give them a call tomorrow if I get the chance but wondered if anyone here knew the answer?

If anyone has any trouble with their insurance through the Club Scheme the Club want to know. Please contact Liz Saxon at our Derby office - 01332 291675. She may be able to help. Try the FJ number and explain you were with the Club scheme before.

Louise they will contact you as before.
My renewal was due approximately £185 and I had to make some changes to my policy (club scheme) this year, Dad had passed away and had to be removed from my policy and I also had his Minor to add on to my policy. I got a very pleasant chap who took the details and said it would be £135. I thought this was excellent considering that was now 4 cars on this one policy that has 3 named drivers and one of them is only 23.
The ammended documents duely arrived but it was still £185, another phone later and they said I dont know how the £135 was calculated but we will have to honour that price!!
So to go back to the original question, mine has gone down but I expect a big increase next year!! My everyday minor policy has remained the same at about £250.

I noticed one ommission on the policy. FJ don't cover caravans or trailers and contents, so unless you get shunted up the rear by another vehicle and can claim off them if anything else happens to your trailer you're stuffed. So drive carefully if you are towing a caravan or trailer to the national rally.

For my renewal this year (was with Aon) they sent the usual renewal notice, but this time on FJ letterhead. Rang that number and got it sorted over the phone.

I've been with Peter Best (Nothing to do with Ringo Starr's predecessor

)
http://www.peterbestinsurance.co.uk/ for years, due to the MG connection. My modified 1275 Traveller is something around £130 per annum (Can't remember whether its 3 or 5000 miles).

I rang the number in the new MM as I was not aware that AON was now FJ. Anyway, it seems that so far people haven't found what I did...
I know insurance has gone up, but all my other policies went down as I turned 25. Maybe I'll try calling them again and explaining.
As regards the excess/benefits, the Flux policy seems if anything better - EU travel is unlimited, other bits the same, legal cover, breakdown etc.
Does anyone know if they still see 1275 as a standard mod and/or a 'free' mod?
Brakes/running gear has also been uprated.

I can't remember if mine went up or down this time but renewal with adrian flux didn't happen anyway as they didn't answer the phone, just got put on hold then the line went dead!
Footman james went straight to hold aswell with awful music so they didn't get my business either!
ClassicLine however answered instantly with a real person so they got my business as thats what I call looking after the customer. They also halfed my mustang insurance and matched my morris insurance, thats without being a club member so I don't have to renew this year and save another £21

Great

It's still Handel's Water Music or something like it at AON/FJ. Been the same for years, its about time they changed it.

Just one word of caution to those obsessed with price...
There are threads deploring the quality of spare parts, the conclusion being that because the owners wanted cheap parts, that's what they got. Everyone suffers from poor quality. Don't just choose the lowest price insurer and then complain about cover or service, check what each company offers, and select the one that best matches what you need. If it's £15 or even £50 more expensive than others, then that's worth it when you need the support.

All my insurances have gone down now I have my proper driving record and no claims re-instated
The mog isn't currently insured but the quote I got a few weeks ago was about a tenner cheaper for fully comp rather than third party.....
