I have some old but very collectable Hi fi which I would appreciate some help in valuing. This was my father in laws system, which was passed down to us when he passed away some years ago.
We have a Gerrard 401 strobe turntable with a selection of Sure SME arms
A Quad 303 and 33 tuner and pre amp.
All are in as new condition.
We have seen the turntable advertised from £250 upto £750, which is quite a discrepancy, so if anyone is in the know could you contact me with your thoughts.
We are also selling about 100 vinyl classical and pop records, to include many boxed sets from George Harrison, The Rolling Stones and loads of 70's rock and pop. All will be priced individually.
Thankyou in advance :D

I have a friend who deals in this sort of quality Hi-Fi who may even buy it off you. His name is Mervin and his phone No is 01263511four55.
The descrepancy in price is because this sort of stuff varys greatly on what condition it is in and what mods are fitted. ie sometimes an unmodified SME can fetch more than a later modified one !

He is a nice bloke so give him a bell and he will put you straight.

Here is an example http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/THORENS-TD125-MK1 ... 19b774869a

The equipment you are considering selling is what I use in my 'office' (with Quad speakers) l bought mine new back around 1970, very well made units - proper Hi Fi!
Out of interest I have followed sale prices on ebay and a lot of it seems to be luck of the draw! and if yours were the only items on there you could see a better price. The turntable in particular seems to command more if it has been 'serviced' Now as there is not a great deal of moving parts inside it seems sensible to do so, and say so!
Why not keep it all, set it up and enjoy?
