London to Brighton Run

Post by alanworland »

What a day for the London to Brighton Run, torrential rain with strong wind!
The Missus and I set off early with our bikes in the car with a view to parking up somewhere along the lower part of the route to watch the run and have a picnic! the best we could manage was taking shelter in a bus stop.
The entrants were like downed rats, flood warnings, service area was awash with best part of 3 inches of water - but determination kept them going!
Well done to all!
Image
What a difference a day makes!! I've seen it work in reverse though but still a pity it couldn't have held off a bit longer.

I've never seen the London to Brighton but I like the Edwardian stuff. Some of the veteran monsters, that take part in VSCC events, are not to be forgotten.

That picture reminds me of one our first trips out in the Cowley before I realised the weather gear was tucked in with the dickey seat

Yup, I was at Maderia Drive supporting 2 of the cars that came in!

I have participated in previous years, and suspect I might be invited to again in the future in a 1900 de dion

That one pictured will be a 1904 variant
