Forced induction

Hi there,
I was wondering if it would be possible to turbo charge or super charge a lightly tuned (940 head, HIF38 etc) 1098. It's not something I'm seriously thinking about as it would be far to expensive for me right now, but just a matter of interest really.
I'm reading up on it a bit in Vizzard and know that 1275's can be fitted with forced indcution, but would be interested to hear any thoughts surrounding doing it to a 1098.
Cheers,
George

1098 would be exactly the same process as for a 1275. I'm doing it to a 948 at the mo

There is a certain supercharged Series MM with an Alta conversion.

Hello George,
as long as you bear in mind the 1098 engine is not the strongest so make sure it is sound in the crank department.

Super would be much better than turbo. But don't expect it to last more than a few minutes! Slight eaggeration there but it is a weak engine better suited to slogging than revving - hence the super will be better.

Thanks all for the comments. Supercharger was my preferred option as I like the fact it offers constant performance rather than a sudden surge like a turbo.
With regard to the engine strength, it's probably not going to happen as I have so many other things I need to spend money on on the car, but good to know that it can be done if I want to

It 'can' be done - but whether it leaves you with a pleasant relaxed car is another matter! A simple 1275 upgrade with some minor modifiactions to up the power of the 1275 is much more sensible - UNLESS you want a fire breathing monster - in which case - Go for it!

well having seen superchargedfool's post about his blown 1275 minor I am quite tempted by a 'fire breathing monster'! I just love the sound of the supercharger!
I think sense will dictate that a simple head swap etc for my 1098 will suffice for the time being and then one day if funds allow I may go a bit further

Well - the 1275 is a much stronger engine - so head that way first!
